The final issue of the Journal of Population Economics has been published and is available online here! Issue 33(4) features a range of articles on topics related to the spread of COVID-19, fertility, education, and migration.

The open-access, lead article “Impacts of social and economic factors on the transmission of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in China” contributes to a growing body of knowledge on the socioeconomic and public health factors that shape transmission patterns of COVID-19 in China’s cities.

Articles on fertility include contributions that address why fertility is on the rise in Egypt, the relationship between education and fertility among Roma women in Hungary, and an exploration of how prenatal exposure to temperature extremes affects birth outcomes in China.

This issue’s focus on education includes evidence from a field experiment in China linking beauty to job accessibility, an exploration of the effects of peers low-ability students in middle-schools in China, and a contribution on ethnicity differentials in academic achievements.

Contributions on migration in this issue include an article on weather shocks and international labor migration from the Philippines, risk aversion and the willingness to migrate in 30 transition countries, and ethnic attrition, assimilation, and the measured health outcomes of Mexican Americans.
